COVID-19 Teaches Its Lesson

A primary insight to what COVID-19 has taught me through the last 3 months.

Throughout your life, you are constantly shown various lessons and morals that are supposedly applied towards your benefit. As kids, we grow with the repetitive reminder to be nice, say please and thank you, and no, hitting your brother is not okay. As our age climbs higher, the reality of life seems to push us through these beliefs, regardless if we want it or not. From always telling the truth to setbacks, we as kids usually learn these not through choice, but through hardships. Previously, if I had heard the statement “don’t take anything for granted”, my mind would’ve wandered towards teachers educating students on less fortunate countries, playing your heart out on the field as if it’s your last, and always saying I love you towards loved ones. However, COVID-19 had enabled a reality check slap in the face in both mine, and millions of others, as the world flipped on its access. From visual learning in the classroom, social events with friends, memories made with classmates, and prom and graduation, it would not be until March of 2020 that I had primarily learned the moral to not take anything for granted.
