Title

Drive-through COVID-19 Testing

Description

This is the drive-through coronavirus testing site at Rhode Island College. Tests are scheduled online, in one-hour blocks, through the Rhode Island Department of Health.

When you arrive, you are asked by people in military uniform to put your ID in your window and keep it closed. They then confirm that you have an appointment.

At a second checkpoint, a person in a tent with a computer checks you in further and places a testing kit under your windshield wiper.

As you approach the testing tent, a sign asks that you do not take photos, so I don't have any images of this final phase, but there were two people in full PPE and a table. One of the people comes to your window, which you now roll down. You remove your mask below your nose, but keep your mouth covered in case you cough. The person then swabs your nostril.

The whole process took a little under an hour on the day I was there. I found it strange, but at the same time weirdly "familiar" because it looks exactly the way you would expect based on sci-fi movies.
