Gilded Imagination
Title
Gilded Imagination
Description
"Gilded Imagination" is about one of my favorite architects, Stanford White (a terribly flawed human being but a genius nevertheless). Few artists have had as great an impact on RI as White who designed countless gorgeous buildings throughout the state during the golden age (the turn of the 20th century). My house painter grandfather may have known Stanford White when he was working on some of the great mansions of the period. By today's standards the color schemes and decoration of that time would seem rather gloomy (muted and darkâperfect as a background for all the gold, silver, and silk on display). Each of my issues deals with some aesthetic that interests me and Rhode Island is a perfect place for artistic exploration.
