Text

The Homeless Heart by Noreen Inglesi
Here I'll rest shackled in a shapeless night Dazed and cold
So alone
Can a warm old man find a fireside?
In my dreams I'm safe and warm You by my side.
You, always so kind
Why do you hide?
Don't you know that love saves the homeless Heart?
Silence falls just like time in sands Shadows dance in the wind. Spirits call me to distant lands Just lead me home
I'll follow.
There was a time not so long ago
I worked the line then went home. Becky's glance kept me warm at night. But I blinked and she was gone.
My cool tears never even touch the ground No one's there
Not a sound.
Will anyone care when I'm not around?
Love's waning starlight mourns minds in darkness. You, in your darkness.
You, why do you hide?
Don't you know that Death stalks the homeless heart?
Silence falls just like time in sands. Shadows dance in the wind. Spirits call me to distant lands Just lead me home.
I'll follow.
