Re-Discovery
By Noreen Inglesi
When life’s path becomes uncertain
And hindered by unanticipated intricacies When we can no longer glide
Smoothly upon velvety waters
Or circle dance like wildflowers
In sweet-tempered zephyr
We lie beneath shadowy sky
Aching for moon’s gentle touch
To guide us peacefully to re-discovery Of day’s misplaced passion
Soothing the painful pangs of
Sullen discontent
As darkness falls
We recall the day
With new-found pleasure
Each flower’s scent
Brings new content
Each bough of tree
Or birds chirping with glee
Brings sheer ecstasy
Our family, our friends
Touch us in ways never before
Like digging for treasures
Or searching for jingle shells
Through infinite sands at the beach
We recall fondly
Perfumed scents of daytime bliss
Still lingering in our hearts
Amidst air heavy with night’s burden Passion’s thief lurks
Ready to pounce
On unsuspected prey
We walk on paths
Sometimes daunting
And uncertain
Yet, if we hold firm
With eyes transfixed
Staying exact and strong
We will muddle through fog and mist And steer our way to shores clear Abounding with stories yet to be told
