As a child, one of my favorite movies was High School Musical, it portrayed the perfect life of high schoolers having the time of their lives enjoying senior year. I was excited to have prom, senior skip day, a graduation party, and most of all graduation, I thought it was going to be like the movies. Then coronavirus changed everything. Now I sit on my bed everyday doing online classes, waiting with anticipation for what's going to happen with my graduation dreams.
As an athlete, the saddest part was not getting a senior season, or a senior night. I play both softball and throw for my school's outdoor track and field team, so the spring season is what I look forward to most. Knowing I will never step foot on a softball field again with my high school teammates puts me into tears every time I think about it. My senior trip to Tennessee for spring training was cancelled and I will never take a trip with my favorite coaches again.
My senior year at Westerly High School was ripped away from me within weeks, of course the health of our nation and loved ones are far more important, it is sad I missed all the opportunities years past got to have. I have had to say goodbye to many things from this pandemic: seeing my friends in class everyday, playing sports, senior events, going to Tennessee, and much more. Many of us are spending time off during this school closure, reminiscing on what we could've been doing, as we get our daily assignments and spend the rest of our school year on google meet. It feels like it all ended too soon. I have worked far too hard and it seems pretty silly to want to walk across a stage at a ceremony to receive a piece of paper with my name on it.
