Students generated a broad range of work connecting the historic pandemic to their own, lived experiences. Collectively and individually, the students knocked their teacher’s socks off. &#13;

Learn about how De La Salle 6th and 8th grade students adapted to quarantine and distance learning.  As part of their social studies classes, students were asked to share what they did while stuck at home including taking classes via Zoom (a video conferencing program), pursuing new and old hobbies, staying connected with friends, and spending WAY more time with their families than ever before.  They were able to share these videos and slideshows with their classmates and hope that sometime in the future these projects will help students just like them learn about the unusual spring of 2020.    </text>

                <text>Refugees go through lots of difficulty, trouble, and trauma before they apply to come to the US. When they apply to come to the US, they go through a long difficult process to get accepted to come here. A lot of times they don't even get accepted and they did lots of work for no reason. But, if a refugee is accepted to come to the US, the trouble definitely doesn't end there. Refugees have to adapt to a new language, culture, way of life, and many other things. Also, some people treat them terribly and kids can be bullied in school, they could be made fun of, experience racism, and many other bad things. This is why we created a series of 3 podcasts. The podcasts help inform the community, stop the spread of misinformation, and help refugees in need.</text>

Our group decided this would be a good idea for a project because animals sometimes get overlooked and are seen as a form of entertainment.               <text>I bought myself a yoga mat around 2003 and used it regularly for a few years. However, the next time I moved, I couldn't find yoga classes I enjoyed and my practice came to a halt. I moved the mat from home to home but never looked for classes again. So the mat went untouched for a dozen years. &#13;
&#13;
March 26, 2020: We'd been under lockdown for 10 days and my sister in Boston texted to ask if I wanted to stretch together in the afternoons. I immediately loved the idea.&#13;
&#13;
Sarah stretches every morning before breakfast and she knew I'd been anxious, so this suggested activity was solely for my benefit. And it sounded so nice -- a daily check-in with someone I love PLUS motivation to move my body a bit (something I don't do enough). This was a GIFT. &#13;
&#13;
Nearly every day since then, we've met via video call and done a yoga video from YouTube. I put my laptop on the floor, unfurl my mat, sit down, and start a Zoom call with Sarah. We often chat first, sitting 40 miles apart on our mats and staring at our laptop screens. Then we do yoga for 15-25 minutes, and then there's often more talking. We talk about ourselves, our partners, our parents, our work.&#13;
&#13;
My yoga mat is now stored in the corner of the living room instead of a closet. And it's not used for simply yoga. It keeps me connected to my sister. And what could be more important than that?</text>

              <text>Due to the pandemic, it has put a stranglehold on many of the things that are near and dear to my heart. These include seeing all of my close friends and some of my favorite teachers at school as well as participating in extra curricular activities such as sports. Although I can't do these things I am not one to just complain about everything and sit around doing nothing. I have still been active during this time and have exercised every day. I believe I have even gotten stronger both physically and mentally during this time. I have also felt a new appreciation for life as I know that many are struggling during these trying times and I try to cherish what I have because I know that a lot of people are not as fortunate. One thing I have done to keep people cheerful and positive minded is creating episodes for a podcast that I run. It is mainly about sports so I have had to think outside of the box, but I love doing it and I hope that I give the people that listen to them something to look forward to and just forget about the uncertainty that lies ahead for our nation.</text>
