Moses Brown Upper School Humanities teacher Edward Henry tasked his 9th grade world history students to create an expressive piece comparing the student’s own experiences & perspectives of Covid-19 with what they learned about The Black Death in 1300s Europe & North Africa. An illustration visualizing the mental health struggles of students during Covid-19 remote learning, highlighting the disparity in schools' focus on physical health and mental health. My experience with covid and school was that I felt as though the school really focused, and did an amazing job with safety precautions and keeping everyone physically healthy but in my experience the mental health of the students was not prioritized in the same way. I believe that the 2020-2021 school year is hard for everyone. I personally struggled greatly with my mental health throughout the year, and I felt as though I was not provided with the right help that I needed. My fiancé and I recently moved to Burrillville so it's woodsy and full of critters around our house, including so many beautiful birds. We've already seen some orioles, we put up finch feeders so now we are getting lots of goldfinches, and we're also getting regular visits from a few Eastern Bluebirds like this one.
