I started taking riding lessons at the age of 8 and rode several times a week through my first year of college. In grad school, I helped take care of a horse who was given to me when his people couldn't afford to trailer him to Wyoming but I couldn't keep him. My stepdaughter was introduced to riding at age 5 and is making a career for herself with horses. I've taken lessons again on and off over the past decade. In May, I found just the right situation, and I saw benefits for my health and my mental health. I'm taking my time finding my way back to being less fearful, in many ways." I had the opportunity to explore many topics relevant to our collective current experiences like technology addiction, love and acceptance, home education, racial injustice, depression and anxiety, gender inequality, climate change, and a pervasive and enduring love for Hamilton. I'm reading book number ninety-two now, Sacred Rhythms: Arranging Our Lives for Spiritual Transformation by Ruth Haley Barton, and I hope to reach 100 by the end of the year.
