Achieving the 'American dream' has always been a priority for the Rodriguez family. Through vignettes of events we meet Fernando, an adventurous businessman and Marta, the backbone of Fernando’s success.

But the more successful the business is growing, the more it would affect their relationship. Tired of being mistreated, Marta decides to take action. Little does she know what will come next for Fernando, not even tequila can cure the mind. Only Marta, better known as ‘abue’ can continue the legacy of the tortilleria and bring out the true meaning of family.

Production Concept:

Originally, the play was supposed to be performed in Central Falls, Rhode Island this year but due to Covid-19, our staged production is going virtual for the health and safety of the cast and audience. My intention is to produce the play to provide space, opportunity and community for Latinx performers. That mission will continue now virtually! From our very homes to yours! This recording is a private screening with the cast.

Creator: Jenny Sanchez]]> My experience with the pandemic would be being stressed out and isolated from friends and family. The masks has made it hard for me to communicate with others by not hearing well and maintaining my mask on all the time while being around others. Distance Learning has brought stress due to assignments being due at the end of the week. It is very hard for me to stay focused with so much assignments being assigned and on top of that maintain good grades. Being isolated from others has brought sadness from not seeing them or missing to hug them. But thankfully my family has been supportive during these challenging times. For instance, my cousin and her puppy Charlie have brought happiness into my life.]]> Travel during covid??

My tips/reflection:

•Cooperate! There are many restrictions- just like in RI/MA some places enforce more than others. One restaurant asked if I had been in the state of New Mexico for 14 days, which I hadn’t- I could have lied I guess but they really appreciated my honesty but they couldn’t serve me food so it’s okay a few fast food trips won’t kill me (hopefully). Be an honest person. Take advantage of things you can do, but don’t push it. You don’t want to be the person that ruins things for everyone!

•I brought my negative covid test results with me, but surprisingly noone asked me for it (they probably should have, but I dont make the rules! lol)

•You really don’t come into direct contact with anyone (stay 6 feet away with your mask on!) I love it! I hate being close to random people 6 feet away is great for me and the mask keeps my nose warm and stops spreading germs- it’s literally fine! Traveling is so easy because everything is cheap, airports are DEAD (the longest TSA line I waited in was 7 minutes!) and getting around is quick- way less traffic!

•Just imagine everyone everywhere has covid!
You’ll have no problem wearing your mask and sanitizing as required! I’m pretty sure there are more people in my local supermarket walking around with covid than people on my flight who are atleast screened for a fever/sickness etc!

•I was nervous to travel at first and yes a lot of things are closed, but there are so many outdoor things to take advantage off and how much of life can I miss out on? Lol I probably won’t be traveling internationally for a while, but I think you can safely travel and have some outdoor adventures if you follow the rules
