<dcterms:description>Like many Americans in 2020, I chose to avoid Election Day crowds by voting early at Providence City Hall. This is the photo of the line I encountered upon arrival. The line moved quite quickly; soon I was ushered inside, after having my temperature taken. I signed in, was given an ID sticker, waited in line a bit more, signed in again at the Board of Canvassers, received my ballot, filled it out, fed it to the machine, and then left. The whole process took about 20 minutes. </dcterms:description>

We both wore bandanas held in place with hair elastics around the ears. I'd found instructions for making them online somewhere. The bandana my husband, Josh Berner, is wearing in this photo was a party favor from a Hoe Down party we went to five years ago. I originally took the photo to send to the host of that party. <dcterms:description>Rachael Jeffers, who works at the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, took the organization's new mask for a #lilrhody test run along Narragansett Bay with her sidekick Kensi (dog in background). These custom masks, which read "Democracy Demands Wisdom and Vision" were created by the Humanities Council for their friends, supporters, and staff. The quote is from the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act of 1965 (championed by the late RI Senator Claiborne Pell) which reads: "An advanced civilization must not limit its efforts to science and technology alone, but must give full value and support to the other great branches of scholarly and cultural activity in order to achieve a better understanding of the past, a better analysis of the present, and a better view of the future.
(4) Democracy demands wisdom and vision in its citizens. It must therefore foster and support a form of education, and access to the arts and the humanities, designed to make people of all backgrounds and wherever located masters of their technology and not its unthinking servants." </dcterms:description>
